Letter from Mr Calverley about Musical Instrument Lessons

Dear Parent/Carer,

Learning a musical instrument can be one of life’s greatest joys which is actively encouraged at Outwood Grange Academy. Music lessons are an excellent way for students to develop their skills and understanding of music, as well as giving them the potential for a lifelong passion and opportunity for social development. Each week around 250 students take instrumental lessons at Outwood Grange Academy and have the opportunity to perform in bands and ensembles. Throughout the year we have a number of concerts and opportunities for students to perform and demonstrate their developing skills.

Students can sign up for individual or shared lessons with our highly experienced specialist staff. All lessons are 20 minutes in duration. We have a bank of instruments which can be loaned from school and through the AIPS system, we are able to offer parents the opportunity to purchase instruments minus the cost of VAT.

Tuition is offered in the following instruments:

  • Piano

  • Singing

  • Guitar (Classical, Acoustic and Electric)

  • Bass Guitar

  • Drum Kit

  • Woodwind (Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet)

  • Strings (Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass)

  • Trumpet

We must operate on a first come, first serve basis so if your child is interested, please sign up ASAP to avoid being placed on a waiting list.

We have attached the contract for instrumental lessons as well as the loan/purchase form to this email. At Outwood Grange, students who receive free school meals are entitled to a free shared instrumental lesson, details are included on the letter.

Completed forms can be scanned/photographed and emailed to Mr Calverley (Head of Music) - r.calverley@grange.outwood.com

If you have any questions, please email Mr Calverley.
